Sunday, April 19th, will mark the start of National Volunteer Week in Canada. It’s a coast-to-coast-to-coast celebration of the commitment, dedication, generosity and selflessness of Canada’s almost 12.7 million volunteers. This couldn’t be more timely!
This year's theme It’s time to applaud this country’s volunteers encourages all Canadians to loudly and proudly cheer for Canada’s volunteers. This year, we shine the spotlight on those volunteering to support essential services during this public health crisis, and to salute those who help by staying home to protect themselves and their community.
Canada’s volunteers give time in support of causes and programs they believe in and ask for nothing in return. The value of the volunteering you do at HOPE to support parents builds confidence, community and connections reminding us that when we give our time and talent, we gain even more. We meet new people, learn new valuable skills and broaden our horizons. We raise each other up and bring us all closer together.
Canadians are invited this week to post a Cheers to Volunteers! poster in their windows for all to see. A ready-made poster is available at volunteer.ca or you are welcome to make your own. Also Canadians can post Volunteer Canada's gif on social media with the hashtags #CheersToVolunteers and #NVW2020.
Let’s join together and ensure the 12.7 million Canadian volunteers you are part of, receive a well-deserved round of applause!
